Types of Renewable energy, sources and how it works
There are few types of renewable energy that you should know about but before then it is important to understand what renewable energy is all about.
You have been hearing more about renewable energy but don’t really know much about it, no problem, I will tell you more about it but to answer this question “WHAT IS RENEWABLE ENERGY”.
This is an energy generated from different natural sources that are continuously replenished and the typical example of these types of energy are sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat.
The most widely used type is Solar energy among others but I will still explain more about other types.
Who is using this Types of Energy
There are many ways to generate energy from but when it comes to solar system it is used as an alternative energy that can always provide an alternative power when other means fail but in the United State of America they rely a lot on coal, oil, and natural gas as their main energy source while many still use renewable energy as an alternative or supplement to their main power source.
Types of Renewable energy and sources
Yes, I have not forgotten that you are likely to be here because you want to know the various types of renewable energy and their sources, but we will be concentrating on the 2 major renewable energy such as Solar wind energy.
- Solar Energy
I have written an article that explained a lot about solar energy and how it works but in simple terms, solar energy is one of the best renewable energy defined as a radiant light and heat from the Sun that is harnessed using a range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating, photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar architecture etc.
- Wind power or Wind energy
Wind energy is not as popular as solar power system but it’s possible to generate energy from the wind with the use of air flow through wind turbines which mechanically powers generators to provide electric power.
There are other energy sources considered as renewable energy such as Hydroelectricity, Wave Power, Tidal Power, Radiant Energy etc
The importance of Renewable energy
All these different types of energy generate energy directly or indirectly from the Sunlight, and wind which can be used directly for heating and lighting homes and offices, though it generated power electricity, and for hot water heating, solar cooling, and a variety of commercial and industrial uses.
If you are living in a country with constant sun then you will be happy with a solar system as it can give you 24/7 energy you needed.
Most of this type of energy doesn’t cost much to maintain because you don’t need to buy fuel or glass for it to work.
When staying in a country with a poor power supply then finding an affordable and suitable renewable system will be a perfect choice.
